SALEM, Ore. - Two Salem-area men died early Saturday when their car drifted off Interstate 5 and crashed into the back of a parked semi-trailer, authorities said.
Oregon State Police identified the pair as 40-year-old Robert Kris Orendorff and 39-year-old Shawn Alan Jacober.
According to police, Orendorff was driving a red 1991 Toyota Tercel north on the interstate when it hit the trailer about 3 a.m. near the Santiam Rest Area. The truck driver, who was pulling three semi-trailers, had stopped on the extended shoulder near the rest area to catch up on paperwork and had the truck's parking lots on, police said.
The truck driver, whose name was not released, was not injured.
Witnesses told investigators that the Toyota had been weaving on the interstate prior to the crash. Police found no evidence that Orendorff had tried to stop or swerve to miss the trailer.
Jacober was not wearing any seat belt while Orendorff was only using his shoulder strap.

Kris had been known for years on the Metal Sludge gossip boards as Orygun Rivethead and simply as Rivethead on Metal-Blast message boards and the LA Guns web forum. He was a local music promoter in the Salem Orgeon area with Bone Daddy Productions and an all around good guy from all accounts. Most of you who are reading this, much like myself, only knew him online, but everyone of us that knew him at all knew that he was a great guy who was passionate about music and so many of the other things that we all love. He will be missed. RIP.
