This month's Miss Metal-Blast is our first from England, the land of Shakespeare, Queen Elizabeth, The Rolling Stone, Stonehenge and Benny Hill among other things. More importantly, she loves Rock N Roll, Metal-Blast , burlesque dancing and Go West.....yeah, that Go West. There's definitely more to her than meets the eye so read on as she tells us a little more about herself.

I like the fact that there is a forum to talk about music and other stuff where it's looked upon favourably to actually be decent to people most of the time. I come here to get a bit of a rest from places where it's all about how big of a douche/attention whore/ musical snob/ point scorer you can be.

Tell us why you'd make a good Miss Metal-Blast.


why? well, why not? my breasts are just as big as the other girls you've had already! Actually no, they aren't but they could be - I'm just waiting on a delivery of tube socks to stuff my elle mcpherson bras with.
Did i mention I like my music and I mix a mean cocktail? sometimes i like to combine the two, like when I got everyone smashed on sea breezes at Milton keynes to see AC/DC.



Ok, tell us a little bit about yourself.


I'm the girl that some folk see at a rock show and think 'what's that girl doing here?' if you're the kind to think rockers are a type and all the same. I've loved music since i was a kid, the radio was always on in our house, my brother used to make me tapes when I was little, and so i was exposed to all types of music from day one. The biggest love affair of my life has been with the 7" single, so much so that i have the middle from a jukebox 7" tattooed on my right inner elbow.
Apart from that, I am perenially getting into scrapes, losing things, falling down, falling in the canal, having to hitchhike home - my life is like a soap so other people's doesn't have to be.



Where are you from and what kind of work do you do?


I'm a Londoner born and bred. Especially odd when it's a town made up of people who moved here, no one's really FROM here. You're from London, the way people are from New York, they'll tell you that before they tell you they're an American.
At the moment, well for a good while actually, I've been a temp, mostly reception work. I worked at a music distribution company for a bit and I liked that but they went broke, nothing to do with me I swear.



What kind of ambitions or goals do you have?


I want to be debt free by the end of the year but still want to go gallivanting to the european festivals - if those teo things seem like a contradiction in terms, it's because they ARE, Blanche, they ARE!




What kind of hobbies do you have?


I do a bit of burlesque dancing, and I watch movies. If you'd hung out with me for any length of time you would say i was a competitive eater but I'm still the AM side of the PRO/AM divide. You'd likely say that about my drinking too but drink is a social lubricant for me so I like to exercise my elbow on a night out.

I am very very very find of footwear and t shirts, particularly adidas sneakers - to the point where I have a seperate room where I live so the clothes don't fall on me and kill me in the night.

Which type of musician are you most likely to go after, The singer, the guitar player, the bass player or the drummer?

The bass player - it's the thing that swings, it's what you're dancing to. The right bass sound can be like the washing machine on spin cycle if you see what I mean....

height - since i want to be able to wear heels and dress up when we go out and I am 5'10"

Probably not too much actually - I had a run of guys who were, shall we say 'interesting choices' so i'm bowled over when guys are nice to me.
Hold my hand as well, i like all that teenage shit since i was so plain that no one wanted to do that stuff with me when i actually was a teen.

Yup, everyone should book my burlesque troop, Renegade Burlesque for parties and club nights (I'll send the myspace link shortly) and when I get my teenage diary blog up and running you can all come and laugh at me.



How do you feel about being Miss Metal-Blast?


I'm actually pretty damn stoked and I didn't think I would be. I never go in for this type of thing so I, much like Ms Punx before me, am having a touch of the Sally Fields
